The Art of Being Mindful: Zine Making
Wondering what a zine is? A zine is a miniature magazine, pamphlet, usually made independently to give voice to those populations who are often silenced or marginalized within mainstream media and publications. Let's practice mindfulness through Zine making.
In this Art of Being Mindful session, we will focus on mental health through the exploration of our multi-faceted identities. How does our location shape our sense of self? How do our communities, environment(s), and histories allow us to understand our sense of self? What types of expansiveness can we invite ourselves into through creative expression? What stories can we tell when we have the space to be exactly as we are?
Dany, Youth Program Coordinator at ACAS, will lead participants through a zine-making workshop to explore identities related to aspects of identity such as: gender, sexuality, home, country of origin, culture, language, and more.
No prior experience is needed and supplies will be provided. This workshop is open to all UTSC students, and international, 2SLGBTQ+ identified and allied students are encouraged to attend.
