Join us at UTSC for the Queer Orientation Week 2SLGBTQ+ Mix & Mingle event, hosted by the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Office, in partnership with student and resource groups and offices on campus.
This event is an opportunity to meet, mix and mingle with new and existing students, staff, faculty, and librarians. This is an 2SLGBTQ+ centered event and an opportunity for queer and trans community members to connect and build community. That being said, everyone is welcome (allies! Join us!). You will not be required to identify yourself. We just ask that all those registering to attend are respectful of the intent of this inclusive and welcoming space.
At this event you can expect tasty treats, icebreakers and opportunities to engage with fellow community members. In addition to this you will also be introduced to 2SLGBTQ+ friendly resources on campus. And yes… there will be games and prizes!
Where: HW 305 (Humanities Wing, third floor)
When: Tuesday, Sept. 20, 3-5pm
Who? New and returning students, faculty, staff and librarians
We welcome, in particular, those who identify as part of the 2SLGBTQ+ community. That being said, all allies are also welcome to attend. The purpose of this event is to connect, build community, and have fun!
What: snacks, activities, prizes, and an opportunity to learn about queer-friendly resources on campus
Accessibility information
HW305 is a large room located in the Humanities Wing. Wheelchair and elevator access to the building is by the southeast entrance. At UTSC there are several accessible parking spaces (the closest accessible parking lots are Pc and Pd; for more information please view this campus map: https://www.utsc.utoronto.ca/home/sites/utsc.utoronto.ca.home/files/UTSC_Campus_Map.pdf). If you are taking public transit, it is a 400m walk from the bus loop to the Humanities Wing.
This is a mix and mingle event that will be held in a large room with 30-50 guests. A powerpoint presentation will be screened on a projector and the host/facilitator will use a microphone to facilitate introductions and activities. There will be round tables set up with 4 chairs at each table. There will be 4-6 long tables set up with UTSC offices and groups sharing information about their services.
The games and icebreaker activities will involve verbal engagement with other guests at the event. For those with mobility issues we will have activities where guests can remain at their tables, or move around to other tables. With 30-50 participants the conversation will be at a moderate volume. Music may be played throughout the event.
It is our goal to make this event accessible to anyone interested in attending. If you have any questions at all about accessibility, or have recommendations for us to ensure your participation is comfortable and enjoyable, please contact the event co-ordinator (edio.utsc@utoronto.ca).
Food, snacks, drinks
Food (snacks, refreshments) will be served at this event. The event co-ordinator has requested vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options, as well as halal and kosher options.
