Join students who are trans, nonbinary, Two-Spirit, questioning or of a gender diverse experience from across U of T's three campuses for Trans Day of Remembrance and Resilience.
Jack Saddleback will join this gathering for the first 30 minutes to speak with students about the topics they want to talk about.
Student facilitators will engage participants in conversations and origami activities. All you need to bring is a piece of paper (square or rectangle).
Our facilitators are:
- Mar (they/them) is a UofT alumni who graduated with a Master of Information in June 2021. While they were a student, they facilitated Gender Talk, a monthly conversation café, run by the SGDO for trans and nonbinary students.
- Camille Rogers (they/them) is a queer, trans, non-binary performing artist and is currently a doctoral candidate with the Faculty of Music and the department of Sexual Diversity Studies. Camille serves as a Research Assistant for the FoM's Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression Committee, and has acted as a Gender Diversity Consultant in many contexts. Since 2018 Camille has also been the Co-Founder of OperaQ, Toronto's independent queer opera company.
- Rae Jewett (he/him) is a 5th year PhD Candidate in the Department of Geography, Geomatics and Environment (UTM). Rae is on the advisory board for the Hamilton Trans Health Coalition and Board of Directors for Pride Hamilton. Rae is a queer man of trans experience.
This event is for people who identify as trans, nonbinary, Two-Spirit, questioning or of a gender-diverse experience only.
Jia Yao, a coordinator with the Sexual Violence Prevention and Support Centre, will be available from 3:00pm- 5:00pm to provide confidential support, as needed, to participants in attendance at this event. Additionally, the following supports are available 24/7 for students to access:
