Q21: Queer Representation in Activism

JanuaryJan 27 2022 15:00 - 16:30

Discussion Group - St. George

In the last part of our Queer Representation series, we’ll be discussing Queer Representation in Activism! Join us on January 27 from 3-4:30pm EST for the thrilling end to this three-part series. We invite all participants to join us in this open and reflective discussion as we interrogate the highs and lows of queer representation in activism!

We are also super excited to include a special guest in this discussion! Q21 will have Summeiya Khamissa (they/them), the founder of Queer Muslim Network Toronto, joining this session! Summeiya Yehya Khamissa is an educator, community organizer, workshop facilitator, and proud deviant of the gender binary. They are the founder of Queer Muslim Network Toronto; a grassroots organization that seeks to unite queer and trans* Muslims through art and storytelling. Summeiya is passionate about decolonizing the education system and activism that focuses on queer joy.

For this discussion, Summeiya will be talking about their grassroots queer Muslim activism, “the joy, resilience and love that comes with accepting one’s true self”, and the steps we can take to serve the community and stand in solidarity with other movements. We look forward to seeing you there!
