Tuesday November 15, 5:30 p.m. DA 131 (Staff and Faculty Lounge)
On November 15, the Daniels Faculty community will hold space to honour and stand in solidarity with trans people. We will acknowledge the hostility and barriers that trans people face globally, within Canada, at the University of Toronto, and within the Daniels Faculty communities.
We are also honoured to welcome Leon Tsai to lead the Daniels community in reflection on trans awareness and remembrance.
Leon Tsai (she/they) is a Taiwanese trans-femme and settler-immigrant storyteller (un/re)learning in Tkaronto. While seeding softness through grief and madness, they invite the world on this journey together: planning, caring and preparing for the softest revolution yet where none are left behind. Leon encourages us to blossom softer, so we don’t break further.
This is an opportunity to raise awareness, hold space, honour the lives lost and impacted by anti-trans violence, and reflect on the challenges trans people encounter in society. As a Faculty, we can each contribute to the intentional inclusion and sense of belonging of trans people within our communities.
Please join us in solidarity, reflection, and action.
All are welcome. Registration is not required.
