This is a recording of a virtual learning event, “Demystifying and Dispelling Myths about Gender-Affirming Care and Supports” featuring speaker Dr. Jordan Goodridge, hosted on May 29, 2025. In this session, Dr. Goodridge addresses myths and misinformation that circulate about gender-affirming health care. He does so by addressing the historical context of trans and gender-diverse identities in health care, realities of gender-affirming health care in Ontario, how access to care works, and barriers to care faced by trans and gender diverse individuals. It also offers tips on how universities can provide inclusive and supportive learning and working environments for students, staff and faculty who are seeking gender-affirming medical care and what resources are needed.

In this session, Dr. Blake offers an overview of asexuality and aromanticism, covers topics such as how to understand asexuality as an orientation, differentiated attractions, marginalization, and invisibility, as well as different forms that acephobia and arophobia can take. It also offers concrete tips about how to create spaces that are more inclusive of asexuals and aromantics in a post-secondary context.

On Thursday, February 18, 2021, the “More Than Pronouns: A Dialogue on Trans-Inclusion in the Workplace” panel discussion was co-hosted by Career Exploration & Education, Sexual & Gender Diversity Office (SGDO), the Institute for Gender and the Economy (GATE), and U of T Alumni Relations. This dialogue on trans and nonbinary inclusion in the workplace addresses questions, challenges and complications in the search for employment. Hear from three speakers who continue to navigate the working world and who will share practical suggestions, strategies and resources which can support trans and nonbinary students and alumni in their career development, as well as, equip employers and HR professionals with actionable steps towards building a more trans-inclusive workplace.
