Q21: Homophobia & Transphobia Today

Date: Thursday, February 13, 3:00 – 4:30 pm
Theme: Homophobia & Transphobia Today

• Are homophobia and transphobia still experienced now that we have supportive laws and gay marriage in Canada?
• Have you ever experienced a small form of discrimination that made a big impact on you?
• How do we internalize and cope with experiences of homophobia, transphobia and heterosexism?

Join us this week at Q21 as we discuss some of the subtle, but often powerful ways in which we see homophobia, transphobia and other forms of oppression impact our lives, even from well-intentioned people who value equality. We hope to share various moments that have impacted us we can gain ab better understanding of discrimination today and find ways that we can work together to support each other.

We’re excited to welcome George Georgievski to facilitate this week’s Q21. George is a psychology student at U of T whose community involvement and research is focusing on prejudice in interpersonal relationships.
