The 2018 Lead with Pride: Forward Together conference took place on Friday, February 2 & Saturday, February 3, 2018.
Lead with Pride is a two-day leadership conference for LGBTQ+ students at the University of Toronto. Lead with Pride began in 2009 as an opportunity for student leaders to gain skills that would allow them to further make a positive impact at U of T and beyond. Today, the conference has grown to be a series that is aimed at supporting current student leaders, as well as expanding and diversifying LGBTQ+ student leadership on all three campuses.
This year, the Lead with Pride conference takes place on February 2nd and 3rd, bringing LGBTQ+ students together to learn about leadership and community building on- and off-campus. Specifically, this year’s conference is focused on building trans-Affirming environments & supporting trans communities at U of T, creating inclusive spaces for queer & trans Black, Indigenous and people of colour (QTBIPOC), navigating identity in professional spaces, creating safer spaces for survivors of sexual violence, mental health & self-care, queer & trans media representation, and fostering a culture of accessibility for all (dis)abilities.
Now in its 9th year, the goals of Lead with Pride are to provide students with the opportunity to engage in vital conversations around LGBTQ+ leadership; develop an understanding of anti-oppression work; build community; and learn tangible, hands-on skills to support student organizing and leadership. Everyone is welcome to apply, but priority may be given to students who have not attended Lead with Pride before. No leadership experience is required to apply.
The application deadline for this opportunity has passed.
