Congratulations to the U of T Pride & Remembrance Run Team!

Congratulations to Team Captain Shawn Mitchell and all of the members of U of T’s Pride & Remembrance Team for completing this year’s Run! The event was a huge success and the team participated in a fun and festive atmosphere. This year’s fundraising was incredible. Not only did the team surpass their original team fundraising goal of $5000, they crushed their new $7,500 goal by collectively raising a total of $8,683!!

In total, this year’s Run raised over $136,000 and the U of T Team played an important role in reaching that number. After the Run, the U of T Team was honoured in Barbara Hall Park as the 3rd top fundraising team this year. An extra congratulations to the top team fundraisers this year: Shawn Mitchell, Kevin Imrie, Terry Gardiner, & Scott Anderson!

Though we have much to celebrate at Pride, we also know that there is still much work to do to continue to improve the lives of LGBTQ people. The team was proud to help to fundraise to financially support the local LGBTQ organizations that continue to work on the critical issues facing our communities. This year marked the 20th anniversary of the Pride & Remembrance Run – it is the largest fundraising event held during Toronto’s Pride Week celebrations and since its inception it has raised more than $1,000,000 for local charities that support the LGBTQ community. By running and fundraising, the team made an important contribution to these organizations and served as wonderful ambassadors for U of T at an important community event. Thank you to all members of the U of T team and all those who contributed to the fundraising efforts!
We hope to see you out running and walking again next year!
