Congratulations to Kathy Mac, 2015 IDERD Award Recipient

ViMacThe Sexual & Gender Diversity Office would like to congratulate Kathy Mac, who is a recipient of the 2015 International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (IDERD) Recognition Award.

We would like to thank Kathy for her dedicated work at the Sexual & Gender Diversity Office over the past two years generating empowering spaces where students can speak openly about complex experiences of race, culture, sexuality and gender. We would specifically like to recognize Kathy’s work in organizing and facilitating of the monthly Queer Students of Colour Discussion Group that has created such a valuable space on our campus.

Kathy’s leadership in other programs such as Q21: A Conversation Café, Lead with Pride and Queer Women on Campus also demonstrates her commitment to incorporating anti-racism into work on sexual and gender diversity.

As a graduate student in the Social Justice Education department of OISE, Kathy’s research focuses on the community building, anti-violence work, decolonization initiatives and performance art of queer Indigenous and queer people of colour, on- and offline.

We would also like to recognize the tireless work of award winner Susan Lee in her partnership with us on the Move with Pride series, and Liza Arnason for her essential support in making Outside the Box possible at UTSC.
