Q21: A Conversation Café – Living Together
Thursday, November 10, 2016 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
– How does living with friends, roommates, on residence or with family impact your comfort at home?
– How does your home environment impact how you express your gender or sexuality?
– How do you negotiate difficult conversations with those you live with?
This week we will be talking about how our various home environments impact our comfort and the ways in which we express different parts of our identity. Whether we live with family, friends, roommates or partners, sometimes difficult conversations have to be had. Let’s chat about strategies to negotiate these conversations to make ourselves and our spaces more comfortable and affirming.
This week, we are so happy to welcome back Scott Clarke as the session facilitator! Scott was the previous Program Coordinator at the Sexual & Gender Diversity Office and, in collaboration with students, Scott started Q21 five years ago (in addition to so many other SGDO programs)! Scott is currently the Assistant to the Dean, Residence Life at University College. Scott’s professional experience has revolved around community engagement and equity at universities and community organizations. Scott has had the pleasure of living in many different housing arrangements over the years (each with their unique challenges and awkward moments) only to find himself back living in a student residence.
