Q21: A Conversation Café – Queering Careers
January 16 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
Welcome back! Join us for the first Q21 Conversation Café of the decade on January 16th. We will be joined by Sania Hameed, a Career Educator at Career Exploration and Education, who will facilitate a discussion on career choices, self-presentation, and navigating the workplace.
Join us as we chat about:
- Has your queer identity impacted how you imagine jobs and careers? How so?
- What choices do we make in navigating disclosure and self-presentation as queer and trans people? What does this look like for networking, the job search, and the application and interview process?
- What have your experiences been being “out”, “closeted,” or somewhere in between in work settings? What choices do we make to navigate our identities in personal and professional environments?
Sania holds a Masters in Higher Education, focusing on student support and student development. As a Career Educator, her role involves advising, facilitating workshops, building and maintaining relationships with valued partners (such as the SGDO!), and working on projects that support students with their career process.
Q21: A Conversation Café is your weekly opportunity to converse and connect with students and guest facilitators about the topics related to LGBTQ+ community. Q21 will take place every Thursday from 3:00 – 4:30 pm. Each week will have a theme and a new guest facilitator.
