Q21: A Conversation Café – Let’s Talk Sex! Intimacy, Consent, and Boundaries
February 25 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
-What roles do sex and desire play in your identity as a queer person? What is your relationship to desire? What narratives do we have about desire in the queer community?
-What is consent? What do you need from consent? What are the nuances/forms of consent that don’t get talked about?
-What boundaries do you hold in yourself? How do you know when you need a boundary?
Sex can mean a lot of things to a lot of people, and navigating sex comes with a diverse set of challenges (and joys!). This week at Q21 we want to chat about what sex means to you, and discuss some of the ways we make sense of it. We’ll be talking sex and identity, sex and boundaries as well as consent. We know sex can be a touchy subject, but as always: everyone is welcome, and we want to hear your perspective on it!
This conversation will be facilitated by Heather, a sexuality educator, relational therapist (RPQ) and opinionated human. With a background that mixes academia with real-world experience, their work aims to start practical conversations honouring the complexity of the world around them. She’s passionate about self-exploration, transformative learning, communication, and figuring out how to do better. Their favourite side project is trying to taste every beer ever made — even the gross ones.
Q21 is a weekly conversation café to discuss the questions you want to talk about. Connect with students and guest facilitators as we share our thoughts, experiences and the questions that keep running through our minds. Each week will have a theme, though everyone is welcome to share their ideas and bring questions.
Registration is required. By registering you will be signing up to receive Zoom details for all of the Fall-Winter 2020-21 Q21 weekly sessions. These are drop-in events, so please feel free to join whichever sessions you would like. You can unsubscribe to these emails at any point. For more information, reach out to us at email@example.com.
