Q21: A Conversation Café – Queering the Cosmos
January 23 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
Queering the Cosmos: Astrology in Queer Communities
Have you been hearing a lot of astrology-related conversations within the queer communities you are a part of both online and irl? This week at Q21 we will be talking about the (more) recent ‘astrology boom’ among queer people in Toronto and elsewhere. All are welcome, from astrology skeptics to aficionados, as we have a discussion about the tools we use for making sense of the past, planning for the future, reflecting on ourselves and connecting with others. Join us as we discuss the different frameworks we each use for self-reflection, connection and community-building.
– Have you heard about conversations related to astrology in your queer communities recently? What do you think of it? Are there other personality-type frameworks that you are interested in?
– What role do these frameworks play in your life and in your connections to others?
– When it comes to “knowledge,” what counts as “legitimate” or “true”? Who gets to decide?
This discussion will be facilitated by Lev who is the Q21 Program Assistant. Lev is a graduate student in social work and is a Libra sun, Scorpio moon and Aries rising. He has been an amateur astrologer for a few years and enjoys it as one of many tools for connecting with others and making sense of a complex world.
Q21: A Conversation Café is your weekly opportunity to converse and connect with students and guest facilitators about the topics related to LGBTQ+ community. Q21 will take place every Thursday from 3:00 – 4:30 pm. Each week will have a theme and a new guest facilitator.
