Q21: A Conversation Café – Remembrance, Resilience, Resistance

Thursday, November 21, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

This week at Q21 we are acknowledging Trans Day of Remembrance/Resilience. We will taking time to remember past and ongoing activism by trans communities, and discussing the ways in which the broader queer community can support trans resilience and contribute to resistance against transphobia and transphobic violence. We will discuss:

– Why do we take time to remember our community members who have died at the hands of transphobic violence? What else can we do to honor our community members besides remembrance?

– How do we see transphobia showing up in queer communities? What can cis queer people do to contribute to ending transphobia in their communities?

– How can we move from a place of mourning and remembering towards action and transformation in order to work to eradicate transphobia and transphobic violence in order to imagine a different future for trans and queer communities?

Q21: A Conversation Café is your weekly opportunity to converse and connect with students and guest facilitators about the topics related to LGBTQ+ community. Q21 will take place every Thursday from 3:00 – 4:30 pm. Each week will have a theme and a new guest facilitator.
