Anti-“O” Convos: Hot Topics – Faith and Queer Identity, A Queer, Muslim Perspective

Wednesday, September 23, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Queering is continuously considering our intersectionality, as being a part of the LGBTIQ community with intersections with our own identities, including gender, race, class, sexualities, and spiritual practices. El-Farouq Khaki discusses their experience with being a Muslim, a lawyer, and being a gay man.

During the COVID-era, the Unity Mosque has become a place where members from around the world gather for Friday prayer. The virtual world has allowed us to gather together and practice faith. El-Tawhid Juma Circle (eTJC) Unity Mosques operate under the concept of radical Tawhid. ETJC Unity Mosques extend an intentional welcome to people of all races, classes, abilities, health (including HIV) status, sexual orientations, gender identities, sex, ages, family and relationship statuses, and religions.

The session focuses on the intersectionality of our inner and outer selves, with faith, gender, race, class, sexualities, sexual practices are all discussed.

This virtual event is free. RSVP required.
