Unpacking Police and Pride: A Conversation with Rodney Diverlus

June 21 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

At the 2016 Toronto Pride Parade, BLMTO called for Pride Toronto to ban police uniforms, guns, and dedicated police floats from marching in the parade, a demand that was later overwhelmingly supported by the Pride membership at their AGM.

This decision and the discourse surrounding it has been a controversial one. Conversations around the ban have been accompanied with misinformation, lack of intersectionality, and anti-black sentiments from both within and outside the queer community.

Join us as we sit down with BLMTO’s Rodney Diverlus to unpack the issue, clarify misinformation, and have an educational discussion on the ban and blackness in the queer community.

Food and Refreshments will be provided.
