Queer & Trans Students of Colour Discussion: Representation & Media
January 18 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
– What role does media play in society? In what ways does media representation have on our understandings of “normal”?
– What are some of the limits to media and our expectations of it?
– Why are you interested in the media that you consume?
At this QTSOC, we will be talking about the representation and media. Why is representation important? What are the limits of media? What do we get out of media-based communities (fandoms)?
Join us on January 18th for a discussion circle where LGBTQ+, genderqueer, two-spirit, and questioning students of colour will talk about how sexuality and race affects our lives and communities.
This discussion is organized as part of an ongoing series to invite LGBTQ+ students of colour and students questioning their gender and/ or sexual orientation together in a confidential space to share stories and ideas as we build community. New and returning students across all three campuses are invited to meet other people and join in discussions that challenge racism, homophobia and transphobia.
