Queer & Trans Students of Colour Discussion at UTM: Coming Out

February 11 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

– What does it mean to come out/ be closeted?
– How do people of colour navigate multiple communities in terms of coming out (or not)?
– What are some strategies we can use to navigate coming out or not coming out? How can we affirm our identity and other people’s identities while not being ‘out’?

Join us at the U of T Mississauga Campus on February 11th from 2-3:30 pm for a discussion circle in which LGBTQ+, genderqueer, two-spirit, and questioning students of colour will talk about how sexuality and race affects our lives and communities.

This discussion is organized as part of an ongoing series to invite LGBTQ+ students of colour and students questioning their gender and/ or sexual orientation together in a confidential space to share stories and ideas as we build community.

New and returning students across all three campuses are invited to meet other people and join in discussions that challenge racism, homophobia and transphobia. Come and tell us what you think would help to create more positive spaces and more inclusive conversations!
